2. Accessories come with it

This Groomiist PT-222 trimmer don’t come with more accessories. Still, it provides more flexibility during the haircut and beard cut. The accessories come with it are as following.

  • 2 combs with 3+6mm and 9+12mm lengths
  • An oil bottle and a brush
  • A 5V charger

Unlike Phillips MG3720/13 and Groomiist SST-786E trimmers, this device comes with adjustable length settings – 1.0, 1.3, 1.6, and 1.9mm. In addition to that, two other combs are detachable with lengths 3+6mm and 9+12mm, respectively. Unlike the many other combs, the combs come with this trimmer reflects different lengths on the opposite side. This way, Groomiist has managed to provide you combs of the combined lengths.

One thing about this trimmer has disappointed me. It’s nothing but the same colour of both combs. Groomiist should at least paint a different colour on both combs instead of the same black to quickly identify. But, there’s also one thing that’s really disappointed me.

The head of this men trimmer is not detachable. If you want to detach it, you have to disassemble it to wash the blades with water. However, I don’t think you should wash the blades with water. The oil bottle is coming with it for blades wash. You can use it. And, the noticeable thing about this trimmer is that it has no nose and ear hair trimmer. That prevents it from becoming an all-in-one trimmer. There are no accessories provided by Groomiist for the nose and ear haircut.

In addition to that, this device runs on battery. Once the battery dies, it needed to be recharged. Hence, Groomiist has supplied a 5V charger with it. The power cord of a charger is 1.8 meters long, which is pretty enough. It’s average in length. Also, take a note that the power cord has no USB port. Also, the charger cord isn’t detachable from its parent.

When the battery discharges completely, the 5V charger takes almost 3 hours to recharge it 100%. A special thanks to Groomiist, because of supplying a fast charger. And, once the battery recharges fully, it becomes capable to continuously power the trimmer nearly for 5 hours – A pretty remarkable. I’ve never seen the trimmer like this Groomiist PT-222. Also, takes a note that the battery isn’t removable.

Furthermore, I’ve one tip for you regarding this Groomiist PT-222 trimmer. Don’t throw the rapper of the packing to the dustbin. Because the label consists of a product key is only on the rapper. So, the rapper is quite valuable at the time of a product registration on Groomiist’s website. Okay. Let’s head over to test the ergonomics of this trimmer.

3. Ergonomic design

This trimmer is made of all-plastic. But, it doesn’t feel like a plastic body. At Rs 3,700 in India, Groomiist has really introduced a premium grooming device. This Groomiist PT-222 trimmer really looks a quite premium as it has a battery status and charging indicator. The LCD display is also enough-big to display the data. No edges and corners are sharp. The dimensions of this trimmer are 4.5 cm in length, 4.5 cm in height, and 17 cm in breadth. And, this trimmer weighs just 216 grams – too lightweight to hold.

So, the dimensions and weight make this trimmer so comfortable to hold for more than an hour. The design of this trimmer really makes it much more unique compared to other best trimmers for men. The whole surface is pain, not rough. Despite that, the trimmer won’t slip from your hand. As the body is made of plastic, it absorbs the heat emitted by an electric motor. So, you never get frustrated because of the heating problem. That ensures you can use it continuously for nearly 5 hours – the maximum battery life after 100% recharge.

But I personally liked the notches of Groomiist SST-786E corded-use trimmer, because it somewhat creates a boundary like situation while holding a device. That lacks in this PT-222 trimmer. But, no problem, as this machine is quite more advance than SST-786E trimmer. So, if you’re not bothered to cut the nose and ear hair, then this trimmer is the best one to buy because of a very fast-charging speed and a high run time.

4. Haircut and beard cut experience

As I’ve said earlier, this Groomiist PT-222 trimmer comes with 2 combs of 3+6mm and 9+12 lengths. It doesn’t come with a nose and ear hair trimmer. So, in this section, I’m gonna show you my experience on beard cut first, followed by a haircut. Before I start, let me tell you that blades of this trimmer aren’t made of a single metal. It’s made of two different hard material.

Ceramic blade of Groomiist PT-222 trimmer.
Ceramic blade of Groomiist PT-222 trimmer.

This trimmer has Titanium and Ceramic blades. The titanium blades are fixed whereas the ceramic ones are moving. There’s no stainless steel like in other trimmers I’ve reviewed like Groomiist SST-786E, Phillips MG3720/13, and Braun MGK3021. But you shouldn’t regret, because the titanium blades are much harder, more long-lasting, and more corrosion resisting. And, ceramic ones are superior to the titanium blades. The presence of both kinda blades eventually bring the device’s price much higher. In this case, the price is around Rs 3,700 as of 24 Jan 2021, I’m writing this review article.

The ceramic blades are known for a cold nature. That means the trimmer blades are not gonna get heated like stainless steel ones. Also, an additional benefit you will get in terms of noise reduction. So, let’s jump in the beard cut.

Beard cut experience

This trimmer has 4 adjustable length settings. They are 1mm, 1.3mm, 1.6mm, and 1.9mm. In addition to that, the accessories also include 2 combs. The first comb has 3mm length on one side and 6mm length on the opposite side. And, the same for the second comb of 9mm and 12mm lengths. So, I’ve made a beard cut without comb for 1mm and 1.9mm length settings. See, other trimmers, without any comb, gives 0mm beard cut. And, they come with two stubble combs of 1mm and 2mm lengths.

In this trimmer, Groomiist has integrated the adjustable length settings in the device. After that, I’ve made a beard cut of my cousin using a 6mm comb first, followed by a 3mm one. It doesn’t matter which trimmer you buy, after the beard or haircut, your face gonna look almost the same provided that you’ve used the same length setting in a new trimmer. So, in my dedicated article on the trimmer buying guide, I’ve shown images of beard and head haircuts using different combs.

What makes a trimmer different are battery charging time, run time, variety of adjustable length settings, premium look and many more.

While beard cut, I found this trimmer almost 50% less noisy than the other trimmers with stainless blades. That makes sense that ceramic ones are perfect for a silent beard cut. After beard cut, I found the ceramic blades weren’t heated. The titanium blades were found heated, but less compared to the stainless steel blades. In addition to that, the blades are so sharp that finished the beard cut without pulling-off a single hair. And, that’s the quality expected in the trimmer.

Also, the blades got rounded-tip to ensure smooth contact with skin. And, as being hypo-allergenic, this trimmer is pretty skin-friendly.

Furthermore, this trimmer doesn’t suck hair as it has no integrated vacuum. That’s what prevented me from it a premium device. It’s good that it has a battery status indicator, but it’s not required though. We need a device that solves the problem instead of just looks premium. After a beard cut, I had a lot of work (To collect the scattered cut hair :)) to do.

Haircut experience

For a haircut, this trimmer has a comb of 9mm and 12mm lengths. I’ve not tested another comb of 3+6mm length. During the haircut, this trimmer has remained pretty smooth, not pulled-off my single hair, not even got heated, and surprisingly remained same silent throughout the haircut as it was during a beard cut. It’s really put me on surprise, because other trimmers that I’ve reviewed before, remained noisy during the haircut. But, this one has broken the record.

The titanium+ceramic blades of this trimmer are also self-sharpening. You will find the same sharpness you felt at the time of first use. Last, As this trimmer doesn’t come with nose and ear trimmer, I have to head over to review its versatile use.

5. Versatility in use

Is this Groomiist PT-222 trimmer offers a versatile use? The simple-and-direct answer is NO. Only cordless use is possible. This trimmer has a 2200mAh battery which lasts for nearly 5 hours when recharged 100%. And it gets recharged in 3 hours, which is very fast, thanks to the 5V charger.

As this trimmer permits only a cordless use, the complete freedom of movement prevails in this device. And, this device is really great for travellers, but not recommended for a barber. If you’re a trimmer, then consider buying a dedicated Groomiist trimmer for the barber. The length of a cable is 1.8 meters, which is a common you get any USB cable.

6. Final thoughts

This premium-looking Groomiist PT-222 trimmer is really the best cordless trimmer I’ve ever used. This is not only ergonomic to hold but also good to use up to 5 hours. It recharges in just 3 hours, which is pretty impressive. The design of this device is quite lucrative. It has an LCD panel to display the battery status. It offers complete freedom of movement with 4 adjustable length settings. The comb lengths, however, limited to 12mm, which is a little bit disappointing, but perfect for a beard cut. The blades are not only hard, self-sharpening, but also remain silent during the haircut. Also, it not get heated, which you gonna lack in other trimmers. Furthermore, nose and ear haircut aren’t possible in this trimmer. All things are considered, I’ve rated this Groomiist PT-222 trimmer 4.6 out of 5.
